Chip and his wife Summer’s passion for design, ingenuity and people development led to the creation of the internationally recognized Kwantlen Polytechnic University Wilson School of Design in 2018.

As founder, CEO and Board Chair, Chip drove one of the greatest Canadian business success stories of all time.

Anticipating that yoga would be the next big athletic movement, Chip established himself in the Vancouver neighbourhood of Kitsilano and enrolled local yogis and a few neighbours to create what would become an entirely new category of technical apparel now called “athleisure” - which has since grown to become a $400 billion global industry.

In 2019, the Wilson family invested in Amer Sports, a multi-brand athletic company that includes internationally recognized brands Salomon, Arc'teryx, Peak Performance, Atomic, Suunto, and Wilson Sporting Goods.

Amer products are designed to improve athletes’ performance, help them achieve their goals, and provide them with more enjoyment from their activity of choice.

imagine1day was founded in 2007 by Canadian philanthropists Chip and Summer Wilson with the goal of ensuring that all Ethiopian children have access to quality education, free of foreign aid, by 2030.

Westbeach

project

Chip Wilson honed his expertise in technical apparel through his early days building the Westbeach brand, which he founded in 1979. The popular retailer was targeted to the surf, skate, and snowboard markets. Evolving Westbeach from a primarily “surf and skateboard” brand to become a pioneer in snowboarding apparel required risk and was a testament to Chip’s keen intuition about athletic and apparel trends.
